Just because we are in Toronto for 2 nights doesn't mean there isn't any driving to be done!
Tonight I'm meeting some of my ex-work (I'm retired now) colleagues for dinner. Unfortunately the reservation is quite early as that is the only slot available (good sign - the restaurant is fully booked).
Julie had wanted to go visit Niagara Falls. It seems that seeing them from the air isn't good enough.
In order to get everything done we had to leave for Niagara at 0730. Yes seven thirty in the morning, it's like being back at work again!
The weather was mostly cloudy as we headed 90 minutes south.
We arrived and parked up and started lacking along the promenade enjoying the spectacle.
We stayed there for about 2 hours and during this time a lot more people turned up.
I wish I got a dollar for every selfie taken by the various visitors....id be rich!!!
The clouds burned off and the weather started to improve so I went back and retook some of the earlier photos.
We headed back to the hotel and hit ugly traffic on the QEW. This happened to me once before where I almost missed my flight home (I was on business). Hopefully this is the last time I travel on this stretch of road.
So we got back. Rested and then got cleaned up to go meet Charis and Andrew downtown.
I was particularly excited as the restaurant is co-owned by Carl Heinrich who was the winner of Top Chef Canada which we watched on television. Although I didn't see Carl at the restaurant the food was great and with great company and I think we had a good time catching up.
All in all a long and tough day but a great one.
Here are a collection of pictures showing the Maid of the Mist boat, the American falls and the larger Canadian Horsehoe falls.
