Took a walk this morning along the wharf in SSM. Sault Ste Marie sits on the canal between Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
We also had to do some shopping (yawn) for lunch items (cheesy bread sticks and cherries).
The drive was ok, not quite as good as days previous but I think we may have been spoilt a bit.
We drove though a town called Little Current which (according to Julie) has the oldest swing bridge in North America. So if you're into old swingers, now you know!
To spice things up a bit we decided that we'd bypass Sudbury (sorry Trebek) and take a ferry tomorrow from South Baymouth on Manatoulin island to Tobermory on the Bruce peninsula.
Things don't always go as planned and you have to adapt. We are spending the night in a place called Manitowaning and our research identified a local tavern with good reviews and craft beers.
We arrived, unloaded the car and then 30 mins later the heavens opened up. It was unclear whether it was going to continue so we decided to drive the short distance into town.
However when we arrived we found the tavern had long gone and was now some funky restaurant which as luck would have it was closed as was the only other food establishment in town.
Thankfully we found a grocery store and was able to pick up some frozen Chinese food that we could microwave. We already had some beer in the fridge. It was actually much better than expected (our expectations were admittedly very low).
Still we've found a tripadvisor recommended BBQ for tomorrow night.....if it's still there.
Early start tomorrow as we have to scoot 30 mins to the ferry and be there 60 mins before the 0910 departure time.
Hopefully the weather will be good and I can snap some more piccies.
Overcast day; walking the wharf in SSM
Hedging your alliances
Mmmmm, yummy food. Well maybe just food.
